“bohor reedbuck…two does by a stream. When alarmed, one of them whistled but this was more wheezy than I expected…a reedbuck ram…The reedbuck again showed up most distinctly while feeding, more so than any other antelope I know…I must have seen about eighty reedbuck, feeding on the slopes like cattle…they were strung out in a practically continuous line as far as one could see, whenever there was suitable ground. They were usually in parties of six or seven, though I saw fourteen young rams together. The big rams were usually either by themselves, or with two or three does close by. They were feeding on the open slopes of the stream, tall grass sprinkled with bushes…The reedbuck here are incredibly tame. They are easily approached to within fifty yards and never run far. Sometimes they will even walk towards you if you stand still, stopping and gazing every few yards. But they go off at once if they get your wind, and then seem very alarmed.”
